B TOUR: IMPERIAL PALACE AND WATERFRONT
TUESDAYS and SATURDAYS, 9:30am - 3:00pm
PRICE PER PERSON: 7,000yen (6,500yen if paid 3 days in advance)
This tour is a perfect introduction to central Tokyo covering the Imperial Palace and Tokyo station. The latter half of the tour takes you to quiet waterfront areas where you can still find remnants of the atmosphere of old Tokyo. Tour starts and ends in Akihabara.
After a warm up ride through our "secret path" under the railway track, we ride around the Imperial Palace. The moat and stonewalls of the palace ground are in stark contrast to modern office buildings that surround the palace.
We ride through the government center of Kasumigaseki district and towards Tokyo station
Then we head to Hibiya Park, a calm oasis in Tokyo's business center, and continue on back streets to the elegant Ginza shopping district.
Tsukiji Fish Market - one of the world's largest fish markets. We get off bikes and see the outer market with small retail shops and restaurants crowded along narrow lanes.
LUNCH BREAK Enjoy fresh seafoods such as sashimi rice bowl or fish cake. There are ramen noodles restaurants too.
We bike across the Sumida River to Tsukishima and Tsukudajima islands. The area retains quaint old back streets and nostalgic atmosphere. The view of Tokyo across the Sumida River, directly opposite the Tukudajima, provides an unforgettable photo opportunity.
We ride on vibrant streets in Ningyo-cho, an old theater district, and onto the colorful textile wholesalers area of Bakuro-Yokoyama before returning to Akihabara.
